Ben Graham Centre’s 2nd European Value Investing Conference

The Ben Graham Centre for Value Investing (Europe) in collaboration with the Greek Centre for Value Investing held its 2nd European Value Investing Conference on October 7, 2022 at the Bodosakeion Megaro, Athens, Greece.

The mission of the Conference was to promote the tenets of value investing as pioneered by Benjamin Graham, to expose Conference participants to the various value investing methods used by practitioners, and to encourage and support academic research and study in the area of value investing.

The Conference provided a forum to explain, discuss and debate the principles, practices and various applications of value investing from a global context with emphasis on the European markets.

Topic: “What they will not teach you at the University”

In his opening remarks, among other things, Dr. Athanassakos contrasted Risk Management under Modern Portfolio Theory and Value Investing and highlighted the key differences between what is taught at the University and what is espoused by Value Investors. Dr. Athanassakos said that he covers these concepts in great depth in his recently published book “Value Investing: From Theory to Practice”.

Dr. Athanassakos was delighted to welcome as keynote speaker at the Conference Mr. George Chryssikos, Vice Chairman of Eurobank Group, who talked about the Grivallia story and gave attendees  an in-depth view of the Greek financial markets. Then he proudly welcomed the panel of professional value investors (Jan Hummel; Pavel Begun; John Zolidis; Nicolas Sheuermann; Nigel Waller; Alejandro Muñoz and George Koufopoulos) who spoke about value investing around the world, with emphasis on European Value Investing.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Athanassakos thanked all speakers, generous sponsors and contributors and expressed his gratitude to all those who attended from all over the world.
